The Roles Of Non-profit Organizations In Development Of Taiwan Information Industry

Besides the government and the corporation, the non-profit organizations, as the third part, usually play the roles in the social fields as the promoters of social justice or the spreaders of education and charities. At present, we can see lots of research papers dicussing about that, but I think the role which the non-profit organizaitons plays in economic development also can not be ignored. In order to giving some successful experience and reference to other areas in our country, this thesis try to clarify the way and the mechanism by which the non-profit organizations promote the information industry and the economy by taking Taiwan information industries' development's experience as an example to analyze and research.Firstly, this thesis, gives the brief introduction about the research background and significance, the domestic and foreign present situation, the reseach methods and innovation, the main thought and frame, and defines the concept of 'information industry' as well. Secondly, it summarizes and elaborates the development and the classification of Taiwan non-profit organizations. Thirdly, comparing with the counterparts in Chinese Mainland, the assay analyses the role which the non-profit organizations has taken in the process of Taiwan information industry's development and genelizes the existence problems. Lastly, some suggestions are given according to the reality of Chinese Mainland. This article uses several research methods, such as bibliography, diagnosis and comparison, etc.By research about the roles that the non-profit organizations have played in development of industries and economy, the article has formed some innovations both in theory and in practice. The first innovation is that to divide many Taiwan non-profit organizations related to information industry into two categories, which are foundation and corporation, and to research them respectively. The second point is to consider that Taiwan information industry has passed through three stages, the accumulation period, industrial take-off period and globalization period, and to describe its history and characteristics of all stages objectively and exactly. The third point is to propose and analyze the important role the non-profit organizations have played in 'interactive mechanism of government, industry, institutions'. The forth one is to compare the Taiwan non-profit organizations with the Chinese Mainland counterparts at the aspect of industrial promotion mechanism and to propose some well-targeted measures and suggestions.
