Incentive, which plays an important role in human resources administration, is very useful to develop the potential of human resources. The incentive approach determines the incentive result; people from different cultural background, however, tend to show a different response to the same incentive approach. In spite of the varied responses, people from the same the cultural background have a lot in common in terms of psychological and behavioral characteristics. Influenced by the profound Chinese history, Chinese people have very distinctive psychological and behavioral characteristics; accordingly, incentive approaches to the Chinese should not be copied from those of the western pattern.Although a lot of research has been done on the incentive approaches to the Chinese people, none of them is very systematic and detailed, let alone touching the field of how to use these approaches. Accordingly, based on the 28 psychological and behavioral characteristics of the Chinese under 10 categories, this thesis has put forward 28 corresponding incentive approaches. Through testing the effectiveness of the 28 approaches, this thesis is intended to show that there is a close relationship between the psychological and behavioral characteristics and the incentive approaches. A model and testing procedure based on the psychology and behaviors of the Chinese people are built to find out which incentives are more effective and then how to employed these incentives are also expounded.To verify the 28 incentive approaches of Chinese characteristics, the author has designed a questionnaire. Consequently, a large amount of data is employed in the thesis. Based on the research, the thesis have achieved the following findings. Firstly, the psychological and behavioral characteristics of the Chinese people are classified into 10 categories; secondly, the incentive approaches with Chinese Characteristics are put forward with the corresponding incentive approach model; thirdly, the relationships between the incentive approaches are explored; fourthly, the operational procedures of the incentive approaches are designed to reveal the process to motivate the Chinese people; lastly, some authentic cases are employed to exemplify the practical operational procedure.As the author only illustrate the typical psychological and behavioral characteristics of the Chinese people, the data given is by no means exhaustive and the corresponding incentive approaches are not complete. Moreover, the elaboration on the relationship between different incentive approaches has a lot of room to be improved.
