In EPC project management, existing problems such as the impediment in informationcommunication, low degree of process integration, and inefficient consideration onthe later processes in project design, may become the obstacles of project resourceoptimization, and even lead to the failure of the whole project. Byapplying concurrentengineering theory in manufacturing industry to project management, this thesisanalyzes the above-mentioned problems and tries to provide a solution. From the prospect of EPC project management, based on concurrent engineeringtheory and the development of information technology, this thesis mainly gaveanalysis on the project organization, process and design. Firstly, the basic theoriesabout concurrent engineering in machinery manufacturing industry and EPC projectmanagement in construction industry were stated, after further understanding ofconcurrent engineering connotation and EPC project management, this thesisanalyzed the reasons and advantages on the adaptability of concurrent engineering inthe EPC project management. Then the Integrated Project Team, the reengineering ofand control model of project management processes were established in order toenhance the inner information communication and increase the process integration, according to inducing two key techniques that is the reengineering of productdevelopment team and processes. Finally, the EPC projects'concurrent designmanagement was studied, and the sustain information environment, process modeling, integration framework and its implementation were analyzed detailedly, in order tocombine the early design with later processes effectively, and to take advantage ofintegration management sufficiently, and to reduce the cost, shorten the period andimprove the qualityof the project.
