| As a developing country, China owns stable politics, enduring and high-speed economic development, huge market, good fundamental facilities, and abundant and low cost labor forces. As a result, with the globalization of multinational corporations' R&D, many multinational corporations have already set up R&D centers in China since 1990s, which are the important parts of their investment in China. There is a competitive and cooperative relationship between the R&D centers of multinational corporations and Chinese government and firms. Since China's innovative abilities are restricted to many factors and are insufficient, and China lacks resource of innovation, and Chinese firms are inadequate in resisting innovation risk,it has positive effect to develop cooperation with multinational corporations in resolving some problems in China's technologic innovation. Consequently, it is important for us to know how to deal with and make full use of that competitive and cooperative relationship in improving China's technologic innovation ability. This paper uses game theory comprehensively to analyze the competitive and cooperative relationship between R&D centers of multinational corporations and Chinese government and firms,which is the study focus of this paper.The structure of the paper is as follows: firstly, based on the analysis and summarization of the present situations and the overall trends of the globalization of R&D of the current multinational corporations, this paper explores the opportunities and challenges coming with the new international economic position; secondly, the paper employs the game theory to analyze the competitive and cooperative relationship between R&D centers of multinational corporations and Chinese government and firms, and summarizes the results of their competition and cooperation; finally, the paper discusses the competitive and cooperative strategy between Chinese government and firms and multinational corporations' R&D centers in China. |
