Retail banking is the main approach for commercial banks to provide one-stop packaged products and services, and to develop new markets, fields and operational modes. It is convenient for clients to handle bank business at any place and any time. By retailing, the depth and scope of banking services will be enhanced, economies of scale and extent achieved and new profit sources developed. Considering the importance of retail banking, the worldwide financial magnates constantly explore new retailing markets by means of mixed mergers, cross-border office establishment, etc. The banking in emerging nations is also orientated towards the retail business.China has been making tremendous strides on economic development. A large population base exists and retail business just starts. As a shareholding commercial bank, Bank of Communications will actively meet the challenges of opening retail banking.At the beginning of this article, background information and purposes of this selected topic was described, theory of value chain and the development of domestic and foreign commercial retail banking was reviewed, focus and methods of this research were determined. Then, an overview of retail banking of Bank of Communication Beijing Branch was stated. Supply and demand situation and future trends of its retail banking and the existing six major problems of retail banking was analyzed. Subsequently, operational mode change and future trends of Beijing branch's retail banking was introduced. Personal banking and private banking was elaborated on. Internal and external management system for Beijing branch was pointed up according to the idea of customer-oriented value chain management. So its Beijing branch will make a major effort to retail banking in terms of human, material and financial resources, and regard it as a strategy business. Finally, in accordance with the operational situation of Beijing branch, the innovative orientation and flow management of financial products development, and an idea of building up a marketing system for financial products was introduced.On the basis of the above analysis, a policy proposal of financial mixed operation and personal credit checking system was put forward.
