Research On The Industrial Position Of Tourism

Research on the industry position of tourism is in urgent need for the development and practices of tourism in China. It is of great significance for the enrichment of tourism theory and the development of tourism science.Starting with the overview of the related research of the position of tourism industry, this article makes a brief introduction to the concept of tourism and its industrial nature; from the current situation of the industrial position of tourism, it also summarizes the theoretical and practical achievement. At the same time it points out the ambiguity of concept definition, the lack of property economics theory as the theoretical foundation for the research,the deviation of the practice of statistical analysis methods. Furthermore, it describes the direction for future research.The theoretical foundation of this article:1.Defines the tourism with the framework; Describes the industrial nature of tourism with Industrial Economics.2.Uses function classification to divide the industrial position into five positions: leading industry, pillar industry,potential leading industry,interrelated industry,basic industry.3.Brings forward the evaluation system for the industrial position of tourism with the research of the evaluation standard of leading industry and the practical situation of tourism statistics, it measures the industrial scale of tourism through total income, added value; Measures the industry relevance of tourism through IPD,ISD; Measures the society effect of tourism through employment, tax, foreign exchange earning contributions; Analyses the potential of tourism with tourism resources, society economics, location advantage, industry policy.After necessary description of statistical method and index of Tourism Satellite Account, with the evaluation system of tourism mentioned above, the conclusion that under current circumstances the industrial position of Xiamen's tourism is leading industry. According to the theory of industrial position, with the government's industrial policy support Xiamen's tourism will develop from leading industry to pillar industry which equates the industrial planning of Xiamen's government.From the view of Tourism Satellite Account, with massive data collecting and statistical analysis methods, combined with the industrial position theory of industry economics, the evaluation system of tourism is given. Taking Xiamen as an example, this article concludes that Xiamen should strongly support the tourism based on its leading industrial position and develop it into pillar industry in the future. This is the innovative part.
