An Analysis On The Developing Conditions Of Xiamen Cruise Tourism And A Study On Its Product Development

The recent years have witnessed the popularity of cruise tourism in the world as a mode of travelling. The oil tanker is known as a mobile "entertainment city" where the entertainment facilities become an important part of the marine tourism.The modern world cruise industry started in the late 1960s in North America and developed at the growth rate of 8%-9%. Currently, the world cruise industry has become more mature, with its markets mainly in North America and Europe, especially America which boasts to have the biggest cruise market and the most cruise terminals.As a special economic zone in China, Xiamen has strong economic development, high resident disposable income, rich tourism resources and good environment. And Xiamen is one of the earliest ports in Chinese mainland to introduce the world cruise and now has Xiamen International Cruise Center and a cruise team with high business level in the mainland China.Many study methods such as literature review, interdisciplinary study, systematic analytical method and practical analytical method are adopted in this paper. A survey is conducted as to the cruise tourism in Xiamen. The status quo of the development of Xiamen cruise tourism is analyzed; and then comparison and contrast is done with regard to the cruise tourism in Xiamen and other cities in China; a conclusion is made that it is of great significance to develop cruise tourism in Xiamen; the conditions of developing cruise tourism in Xiamen is under analysis and a proposal about the cruise tourism product development in Xiamen is made.Xiamen is provided with the necessary conditions to develop cruise economy, and it is steering towards the upscale tourism industry headed with cruise economy. With the aim to be the world cruise magnate harbor, Xiamen is adapting the policies and strengthening the development of the cruise market.
