Deteriorating items are common in our daily life and refer to those items which become decayed, damaged, evaporated, expired, invalid, devaluation and so on through time. Most of food, medicine, and fashion goods and so on are all deteriorating items. Nowadays, the consumption of deteriorating items in China increase quickly. Because of the deteriorating and short lifetime characteristics of deteriorating items, it is important to research the inventory management for deteriorating items for the purpose of regulating demand and supply. However, the present researches on deteriorating items are less and superficial compared with inventory studies on common items. In view of the reasons stated above, this dissertation focuses on the deteriorating items and makes a research on the inventory control problems for deteriorating items based on stochastic demand. It is hoped that the outcome of this dissertation can help to enrich the researches in this field and provide important reference to the practice at the same time. By way of literatures review and investigation, this dissertation combines deteriorating items theory, inventory management theory, and stochastic process theory and so on together and then makes a relatively elaborate research on the inventory control problems based on stochastic demand. There are many innovations in this dissertation as stated below: First, this dissertation makes a review on deteriorating items inventory models; Then, this dissertation analyzes the object, content and the constitution of inventory costs of inventory control problems for deteriorating items; Third, this dissertation establishes inventory control models for deteriorating items based on different dispatching tactics; Last, this dissertation makes a comparison among the two models (tactics) by way of practical examples demonstration. According to the results, we can get to know which tactic is proper under particular circumstances. In addition, there are 4 figures and 34 tables in the dissertation. We also have referred to 142 reference documents.
