Many scholars all over the world have always focused on if the board can have an influence on the corporate performance.This thesis uses the theoretical research method and empirical research method.The first,we analyzes the theories about the relationship between board characteristics and corporate performance in detail.Then we choose aeronautical industry a-share listed companies as our study object.The data come from their yearly financial report of 2003-2007.We analyze empirically the relationship between board characteristics(board size, the rate of independent directors,the share proportions of the boardmembers,the frequency of the board meeting,the condition of whether the chairman of board of directors acts as general manager,the boardmembers' human capital and the boardmembers'salarly)and firm performance.The results show that the board size is positively related to the corporate performance significantly.The rate of independent directors is not related to the corporate performance significantly.The share proportions of the boardmembers is not related to the corporate performance significantly.The frequency of the board meeting is not related to the corporate performance significantly.The condition of whether the chairman of board of directors acts as general manager is not related to the corporate performance significantly.The boardmembers' human capital is not related to the corporate performance significantly.The boardmembers'salarly is related to the corporate performance significantly.Finally,the paper puts forward some policy suggestions of how to perfect corporate governance of aeronautical enterprise from the board level according to the empirical conclusions above.
