Study On Relationship Between Urbanization And The Service Industry Of The Rapid Economic Growth Region

It is an important symbol that the urbanization level enhances and the proportion of service industry enlarges in the region of rapid economic growth. Zhejiang is a developed province in eastern coast of our country, since the reform and opening policy, the urbanization and service industry development has achieved great achievements. The entire province urbanization level enhanced from 14% in 1978 to 57.2% in 2007. The number of the planned city and the designated town increased separately from 3 and 167 in 1978 to 33 and 750 in 2007. The proportion of service industry rose from 18.7% in 1978 to 40.4% in 2007, service industry value has amounted to 752.1 billion in 2007. Zhejiang Province has stepped out a distinctive and regional characteristic economic development path .However, in such situation that the urbanization advances uncreasingly and service industry grows swiftly, we must see some existent problems. According to common experience of world urbanization development, when average per person GDP is more than 1000 dollars, The urbanization level should reach more than 65.8%, in 2007 Zhejiang per person GDP amounts to 4883 dollars, but the urbanization level has only 57.2%, the urbanization level obviously falls behind the economic development request. On service industry proportion, Zhejiang not only falls behind the world average level(62%), but also falls behind the low income country average level(43.5%). Did the low urbanization level lagged service industry or service industry development affect urbanization level enhancement? How the urbanization and the service industry interact and influence? Therefore, research interrelation between the two has the very vital practical significance to formulate the urbanization and the service industry interaction development strategy of Zhejiang Province. Through study, we find that, since the 1990s,the gray relational grade between the urbanization and the service industry is greater than that with the secondary industry, service industry is becoming the leading force to promote the urbanization of Zhejiang. With the internal structure of service industry in Zhejiang Province upgrades uncreasingly,the second-level service(service for the production and life-support) becomes an important force. At the same time we find that the size of city agglomeration also affects the scale and structure of the service sector. The urbanization rate of Zhejiang overall is somewhat low,the scale of the cities and the towns is relatively small which has restricted the further development of service industry. On the other hand,the development of the service industry is inadequate and the structure level is low has also restricted the process of urbanization.The paper consists of 6 chapters. In the first chapter, the presentation of research background, meaning of the thesis, research mind, domestic and international research current situation are introduced. The second chapter makes the theoretical analysis on relationship of urbanization and service industry. The third chapter mainly analyzes the course and the present situation of urbanization and service industry of Zhejiang Province. The fourth chapter separately from the time angle, the spatial angle and the international contrast, makes the empirical analysis of the relations, then draws the preliminary conclusion. The fifth chapter analyzes the restrictive relations. The last chapter puts forward the related policy proposal to the coordinated development between the urbanization and service industry of Zhejiang Province.
