The mixed ownership is the latest development of the theory and practice of Chinese ownership, showing that China has historically leaped from the single public ownership to the mixed ownership and it will has far-reaching impact on reform of Chinese economic system and perfection of socialist market economic system. The mixed ownership is the organizational form of enterprise property rights and economic form formed by mutual investment and integration among the different nature of the property subject, and is a new form of ownership independent of public ownership and private ownership, emerging in the practice of Chinese reform and opening. The joint-stock system, joint-stock cooperative system and joint venture are the basic performance of the mixed ownership. The opening, integration and flowing are the fundamental characteristics of the mixed ownership.Generation and the development of the mixed ownership is a longer historical period and had undergone three stages including the initial development, basic shape and deepen. The coexistence and common development of different forms of ownership, the improvement of market degree and the development capital market and property rights market are the three basic conditions in the formation and development of mixed ownership. The mixed ownership formed initially in the developed capitalist countries, such as France, Britain and Japan. The perfect mixed ownership in these countries is a good reference to Chinese mixed ownership. Comparing to the developed countries, the development of mixed ownership in our country has many problems, such as the monopoly of state-owned economy and state-owned enterprises, institutional obstacles to non-public ownership economy and unperfected capital markets and property rights market. To solving these problems, we should take some counter-measures to accelerate the strategic adjustment of state-owned economy and the reform of state-owned enterprises, to eliminate institutional obstacles to non-public economic and to vigorously develop the capital market and property rights trading market.The Mixed ownership economy in China has some basis and scale in a certain extent, as Chinese market economy developing, the mixed ownership economy in our country has vast room for development and could become the basic form of the socialist market economy. The generation and development of the mixed ownership is of great historical significance, it is the new conclusions of Marxism given by our party summarizing long-term practice of building socialism.
