The core competencies exist in all organizations with a strategic advantage to win, commercial banks are no exception. At present, China's financial industry is fully opened to foreign investment, competition among commercial banks is more and more intense, China's state-owned commercial banks to win the status of the initiative in the competition, fundamentally speaking, lies in comprehensively improving the operating efficiency of state-owned commercial banks, in particular, we need to nurture and enhance the state-owned commercial bank's core competitiveness.This study is based on core competence theory, combined with the special nature of commercial banks, introduce the theory of the commercial banks core competitiveness, and sum up the core competitiveness of commercial banks in the eight elements, namely:strategic planning, organizational structure, human resources, financial innovation, risk management. At the same time, this study also introduces the core competitiveness of commonly used quantitative evaluation index, market share, profitability indicators, management capacity indicators, and capital adequacy ratio. On this basis, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods on four state-owned commercial banks, competitiveness, introduces and analyzes the current situation, and thus sum up the problem and the reasons for their existence, finally, put forward the upgrading of China's state-owned commercial bank's core the competitiveness of countermeasures, namely to establish a clear core competency strategy, optimize and improve the organization in order to provide organizations, security, human resources development, strengthening of human resources management, and actively engage in financial innovation, and strengthen risk management and improving customer relationship management.
