Research On The Change Of Regional Economics Total Factor Productivity In Shaanxi Province

Inevitably,Economic development will take into consideration its productivity, especially to shaanxi province. The economic development of Shaanxi is mainly pulled by capital investment, to improve productivity is the key to obtain the economic sustainable development. We analysis the change trend and characters of regional economics productivity in Shaanxi province, enabling people to have a clear idea about the different productivity of regional economy and the mode of economic growth of cities in Shaanxi province during 18 years. It's of great practical importance to change the economic growth mode, to improve the productivity of each cities, to coordinate the development of regional sustainable economic growth, and to seek the effective way of economic stable growth. The main innovation lies in the analysis angle,we make ten cities in Shaanxi be the decision making units, and then analysis the Total Factor Productivity in Shaanxi province through the comparison of the yearly lateral and regional longitudinal difference.Based on the domesticand international research achievements on Total Factor Productivity, we combine theory with practice, firstly analysis the regional economic development situation, and then measure Total Factor Productivity and its Malmquist index constructors in Shaanxi from 1990 to 2007 with DEA- Malmquist index method, analysis the Total Factor Productivity in the whole province and ten cites at different stages and the annual changes.before this, to avoid spurious regression, we made panel unit test and panel cointegration to ensure the effectiveness of DEA-Malmquist index method.Based on the above analysis, the paper draws the following conclusion: through the lateral comparison of Shaanxi Total Factor Productivity and its Malmquist index constructors, we find that technology progress mainly contributed to the growth of Total Factor Productivity in Shaanxi province, the level of technical efficiency change is far less than needed on the whole. The pure technical efficiency is at a low level, only the city of Ankang and WeiNan improved their pure technical efficiency in the whole province, and scale efficiency is the major contribution factor to technical efficiency; through Longitudinal comparison of the Total Factor Productivity and its Malmquist index constructors in cities,we find that significant differences exist in three great regions and all of the cities on the level of Total Factor Productivity,the change of Total Factor Productivity is enslaved to the technical efficiency which is at a low level. Each city's growth of Total Factor Productivity in 2000-2007 has strikingly increased than that in 1990-1999, but the increasing trend is not stable.
