With the rapid development of China's apparel industry, garment inventory becomes an important restricting factor to the development of brand clothing enterprises in China. Using system theory and control theory as the theoretical basis, this paper studies the inventory control problems on supply chain of brand clothing enterprise by the combining method of quantitative models and qualitative analysis. It strives to form a more integrated theoretical framework and theoretical models to provide effective decision for garment inventory. The main research work of this paper is as follows:(1) This paper defines the supply chain in the brand clothing enterprise. It describes the characteristics of the clothing industry from microscopic level and analyses the concept of brand clothing and brand clothing enterprises from each classified level. It defines all aspects of supply chain of brand clothing enterprises and analyses its characteristics and operating modes. Through the analysis of brand clothing marketing channels, it reveals the reasons for excessive inventory of clothing from the perspective operation of supply chain.(2) This paper forecasts garment market demand of brand clothing enterprise. Firstly, it divides the clothing customers into two categories: the fashionable man and the imitators. The imitators imitate the fashionable man quickly after the fashionable man trying new clothes. This relationship results in the consumption of garment. Secondly, it considers the popular color and seasonal change as influence factors of clothing consumption. Based on these two conditions, it sets up Bass model with a modified of seasonal factors. The model reflects the nature and characteristics of garment consumption, but also reflects the seasonal rule of clothing consumption. Through the model, it forecasts sales of light green Women clothing of Z company in 2010 based on historical data.(3) This paper discusses the problems about garment inventory control of brand clothing enterprises. Firstly, taking into account the backlog of poor sales of garment at the end of the season, it proposes the concept of the invisible deterioration, and introduces this concept into the inventory model. Secondly, taking the linear need characteristic of a particular type of garment into account, it establishes inventory model with the concept of outdated modification. Finally, under the features on sales channels of brand clothing enterprises, it establishes the ordering policy of a chain of six brand clothing enterprises. Through the strategy choice analysis about the consumption and replenishment of garment inventory, it achieves the inventory control based on the minimum inventory cost.
