Competitive intelligence (CI) is a research on the competitive environment, competitors and competitive strategy in information field. It is a process which is also a result. The former refers to dynamic behavior of information collection and analysis; the latter refers to the subsequent decision-support information support. It aims at facilitate organizations'better understanding of their opponents and the environment, as well as itself. CI acts as eyes and ears, vanguard, staff roles, ultimately in order to assist management decision making, take competitive advantage.In the past, many clients of CI are independent organizations, relevant research papers are more about "Competitive Intelligence System (includes information technology support for enterprise competitive intelligence system, social networks, enterprise culture system, and other systematic comprehensive structure), every aspects of competitive intelligence (collection, analysis, delivery services, etc.) in which include the update, application, management and implementation of a variety of techniques.In practice, since China's reform and opening up in 1970s, especially since the accession to the WTO, the country's economic structure, industrial structure changed a lot. In the circumstances of economic globalization, countries and regions, is no longer act independently, but rely on the policy. As industry clusters, they participate in the fierce market. Thus, competition situation change from individual to the industry and inter-industry competition, or competition between industrial cluster. Where Competition exist where striver of such market, raw materials, human resources, capital and other resources exist. All these need CI to support decisions.In one word, in the theoretical field, CI application in industries is rarely involved. This is a limitation for the development of our industries. Meanwhile, there is much space for CI theory to expand. Therefore, this thesis proposes application research of CI in industries with the title of "industry competitive intelligence h" and do research on semiconductor industry.
