With the development and deregulation of Chinese capital market, commercial banks in China widen the range of products they offer to their clients. The income from non-interest activities as percentages of bank assets and operating income have increased over time. The proportion of interest income - interest rate to deposits and loans, as the main source of income of commercial banks, has reduced year by year. Comparing with the commercial banks in the developed countries in the world, while the degree of marketization of the commercial banks in our country is not high, the proportion of non-interest income to bank revenue is low, but as the Chinese capital market and financial products have further developed, the competition between banking has intensified, the proportion has displayed the trend of rapid growth in recent years, and has exerted significant influence over the performance and stability of commercial banks. In this study,12 commercial banks in China from year 2000 to year 2007 are selected as sample. Based on definitions of the interest income and non-interest income of commercial banks, and giving the impact models of the overall performance, finally come to the conclusion of this article. The regression results certificate the conclusions above. The results indicate that, on average, the non-interest income is positively related to bank size, the ratio of deposits-to-assets and the ratio of full-time-employees-to-deposits. It's unrelated to the quality of bank's management. Further more, there are significant differences between state-owned and non-state-owned commercial banks both in components and determinants of non-interest income. This innovation of the paper mainly displays the composition of non-interest income and its influencing factors from the perspective of quantitative for the first time, and the comparative analysis of the differences and their source in non-interest income between state-owned and non-state-owned commercial banks.
