Spatial agglomeration is a common economic phenomenon all over the world, which is a inevitable result under the conditions of market economy. Economic agglomeration brought about regional economic growth, while expanding regional differences. Since the reform and opening up, the agglomeration has been more and more obvious in the eastern coastal areas but not in the inland areas, while the growth difference between the east and the west has enlarged gradually. Under this background, it has far-reaching significance that to study the successful experience of the developed region and sort out its inherent laws of agglomeration, which could guide development for less-developed region.By viewing simply from the China's economic development, we find an inevitable fact that is the regional disparity and economic growth difference of China have strong spatial character. Therefore the following questions will be worth of thinking:what is the role that the spatial character influences on spatial agglomeration? We also observed that China has got rapid economic growth, at the same time, industry has continued to concentrate into the east so that have an important impact on the economic development. So, another question will be raised:what is the mechanism of regional agglomeration of industry? This dissertation aims to answer the question mentioned above. Before the reform and opening up, Zhejiang developed very slowly like the central and western regions of China, while the development conditions had many similarities. After that, economic progress of Zhejiang is very fast, the average annual GDP growth rate reached 13.2%, and Zhejiang become one of the fastest growing provinces of China. The county area economy is most basic unit of national economic development, therefore we select Yiwu, Zhejiang province, which has achieved great economic progress, for an empirical analysis. The empirical research is the core of the dissertation. We try to construction of a regional economic framework for spatial agglomeration of micro-analysis on the base of the methods of new economic geography. This paper explores the spatial agglomeration of Yiwu to provide a scientific basis for reality for less-developed regions. The dissertation is divided into six chapters, the main idea for each is as follows:The first chapter is the guideline sector. It states the motivation, attention, structure of this paper. The second chapter is a survey of related research, mainly including research development of the new economic geography on the spatial agglomeration, and other scholars to use this theory overview of economic spatial agglomeration. The third chapter discusses the functional mechanism of spatial agglomeration. This part is hard cores of the dissertation, of course. We set up a General equilibrium model of New Economic Geography over the spatial agglomeration, which is based on Yiwu, and then view the progress of spatial agglomeration of endogenous type development. The forth chapter discusses the driving forces and mechanism of spatial agglomeration of Yiwu. Basing on the model set up in the third chapter, we analyze the driving forces of spatial agglomeration, and their function and the interaction among them. The fifth chapter is about the spatial agglomeration and spatial structure of Yiwu. This part mainly discusses the process of spatial structure evolution with spatial agglomeration. The sixth chapter makes a summarization of this dissertation. This chapter points out some proposals of the economic development for the less-developed regions.
