FDI play an important role in China's economic development. Using FDI can make up the domestic shortfall, help enhance export competitiveness, accelerate the industrialization process, promote industrial upgrading. Japan is one of the main source of FDI. From July 1979, Japan began investing in China, Having experienced several setbacks and height. Basing on the Foreign Ministry of Commerce statistics, as to October 2007, Japan's cumulative investment reached to 60.78 billion U.S. dollars, becoming the second FDI source countries in China. Japan's direct investment has a very important position in China'FDI.China's regional economic development was uneven distribution. labor costs, market-oriented, government efficiency, regional open standards, the level of urbanization, human capital stock in various economic areas was different.First, This paper analyzes what kinds of factors that attractt Japanese investment in the region dominant. Second, The main of Japan's direct investment in china was manufacturing, this article will divide manufacturing into high-tech industries and traditional industries, further analysis the location factor of impact high-tech industries and traditional industries.Then,analyzing the various the characteristics of industry cluster in the region and summarizing the reasons of industry cluster in the region. Finally, according to above analysis, summarize findings, and propose a solution to each region to undertake direct investment in Japan.The dissertation mainly employs research methods such as the combination of theoretical analysis and empirical study, Qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, Subjective analysis and objective analysis, Macro-and micro analysis,with attention concentrated on the following 6 aspects: First,Expounds the background of the thesis and the research topics of significance, reviews the research literature in the theory of Japan's direct investment position and the Industry Choice at home and abroad. Discusses the research methods, innovation and inadequateSecond,Japan's direct investment in China is divided into four phases, the first phase, from 1984 to 1990, slow growth phase, the second phase, from 1991 to 2001, rapid growth stage, the third stage, from 2001 to 2006 rapidly development stage, The fourth stage of adjustment period since 2006.Focused on analyzing the changes of the various stages of the Japanese companies direct investment in location and industry in China.Third,Analysis the regional imbalance of Japan's direct investment ,Come to the location factor of affect Japan's direct investment by factor analysis. Through multiple regression, Calculate the objective factor scores of provincial investment environment, and finally come to the provinces attractiveness score of Japan, through the provinces attractiveness score draw conclusions.Fourth, Traditional industries and high-tech industries as the dependent variable, Through one dollar single variable regression, classification variables of multiple regression, the overall variable multiple regression, analysis of the impact of traditional industries and high-tech industry location factors. Reach the main conclusions and predictions for the futureFifth,By calculating the industry's geographic concentration index, the percentage of Industrial investment in the provinces and regions, location quotient, obtains the degree of concentration in the main provinces. By various industries concentration in the major provinces, Analysis the reason of the formation of Japanese firms industrial agglomeration, and finally reach a conclusion.Finally,Through the first few chapters summarize overall conclusion, and propose a solution. of China's eight economic zones, namely the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing, Tianjin, A Large Northeast, Shandong Peninsula, Southwest and Central West region to undertake direct investment of Japan.
