Since 1990's, GIS has come into a new period of rapid deve1opment, whichtakes on characteristic of utility, integration, and industrialization. The scale-uD of GIS software system, which is 1ed by the bui ldup of functions, showed that traditional producing mode can't fit need of marketing for GlS.Under the utility of GIS in scope of distributed MOdeling & Simu1ationtechno1ogy, this paper reconunends deve1opment and management of app1iedGIS.At first, the article introduces the background and other relativec0ntents about the subject by simp1e summarization of technica1deve1opoent traits of GIS and distributed Modeling & Simu1ationtechnology.Secondly, based on experiences and knowledge attainted in fact, theauthor discusses the common organization and management of developocnt ofGIS with automated software engineering tools. Finally, it narrates some practical works l which contains design andrea1ization of dynamic link library, HLA interface in GIS as a federatemember of distributed simulation environment.
