In this paper, the princip1es and methods of producing digita1orthophoto wi th space remote sensing images are descripted. The technologyof updating l:250000 topographic map and map database on the Microstation95 p1atform is a1so introduced. This paper emphasized on the three geometric mathematica1 mode1s forrectifying space remote sensing images. The improved po1ynomia1rect if icat ion method was ment ioned. Us ing iterat iofl method wi th variableweights, the accuracy of geometric rectifieat ion can be improved. Then, the function and characteristics of Microstatiofl 95 system areintroduced. Based on the map standard of sca1e 1 t250000, the correspondmap symbo1ic database and map 1inear database were designed.Fina1ly, a series of experiments showed that the mathematics mode1s---- quadratic polynomia1 model, cubic po1ynomia1 mode1, direct 1 ineartransorm (DLT) mode1 and iteration mode1 wi th variab1e we ights can be usedin producing ortho images with space remote sensing images. 0n theMocrostation 95 system, the vector topographic map can be registered withorthophotos and can be updated. The experiments showed that, whi1e using remote sensing images toproduce orthophotos, people can achieve high work eff ic iency, save worktime and get more veritab1e products. It is an effective method to updatetopographic map using remote sensing information.
