That creates difficulty for people to tell immediately and positively what the overall results means about the terrain surface. Also, the relevant information obtained could not be brought into its full play. The technique of visualization in scientific computing paves a way to rebuild 3D terrain model using the interpreted result of GIS data.This dissertation focused on the research and experiment work in the following aspects:1) The basic problems of digital 3D terrain modeling and visualization;2) The reconstruction of terrain surface;3) The real tune terrain simplifying and multi-resolution terrain model presenting .A view dependent dynamic multi-resolution terrain model is presented.3D terrain surface modeling is to build the irregular 3D model from a large number of scattered points and lines.
