Investigation is important link in thermal imaging technologies and provide the theoretical basis and analytical tools for system design, analysis, verification and genesis of new concepts.A 3-D noise of model second generation thermal imaging system is deduced on the basis of reviewing literature and detailed theoritcal analysis. In temporal, horizontal and vertical dimensions the noise may be divided into seven components, and the implications of various components are analyzed with the caculation methods are given. At the same time, MTF, MRTD, SiTF about second generation thermal imaging system are researched , derived and described in detail.In the paper, a thermal imaging system is tested, the test methods , equipment and setup for SiTF NETD MTF and MRTD are given,the experimental results and idealized values are compared ,the errors are analyzed.
