The reliability assessment of a complicated system acts an important role in the area of civilian industry and military industry. A complicated system, which is composed of multi-layer components, generally has sufficient test samples for the components and sub-systems, but small test samples for the whole. If a complicated system needs to assess its reliability with the traditional approach, some difficulty will be encountered. While being assessed with the Bayesian approach, however, it can be solved with less difficulty. Therefore, in this thesis, the Bayesian approach and its application in the reliability assessment of complicated system are studied, and the System Bayesian Reliability Assessment software (SBRA) is redesigned. This thesis focuses on the problems in the practical application and the design of SBRA.This thesis includes three parts. Firstly, the reliability assessment of component is studied with the Bayesian approach, while a new method based on the credibility_weighed for the fusion of prior information of multi sources is depicted. Secondly, the reliability assessment of system is studied with the Bayesian approach, which includes simple system, typical complicated system and system with binomial components connected in series, whose reliability is especially high. Lastly, the design of SBRA is introduced. After outlining the mainframe of SBRA, three breakthroughs during the design of the software are researched, which are graphical modeling method, the control and navigation for the large-scaled vector picture and the design of the management system for the reliability information. Tests and verifications are also accomplished for SBRA.
