North seeking began to be applied from the need of the geography directions information of mankind, in endless development process, it experienced from rough to precision position north seeking search process. In this process although north seeking accuracy increased continuously, it was necessary to depend on the outer information to seek north. Emergence of the inertial technical is a new path to researches independent and precise north seeking equipments.This thesis studies north seeking equip that is regarding main gyroscope as the sensitive equipments, analyzing from investigative of the current domestic and international, research of the gyroscope north seeking equips concentrates primarily on in gyro-compass, the gyrotheodolite, gyro-based north seeker three kinds of quipmentses. The thesis introduces the basic principle of these three gyro-based north seeking equipments, summarizes the different and similar of these three kinds of equipmentses. Importance of the thesis is gyro-based north seeker error analysis, we can know clearly reasonablely that the choice of position scheme of gyro-based north seeker can rise cancellation function of north seeking error. The special error need to establish formula of error in order to reasonable compensate. The thesis analyses error of gyroscope oneself, it includes scale factor error and error of gyroscope. The author brings forward the method dispose of error for gyroscope trend item cause of north seeking error, and analyzes latitude error and two pose angle error. The author analyzes influence of these error in north seeking, educes formula of error, curve for its error amount in deferent pose angle. Passing the curve can immediately reseach that amount of the influence in north seeking, in order to provide the theories for error compensate of gyro-based north seeking. Position transformation error is a important part in research of north seeking scheme, the thesis analyses position transformation bringing error of north seeking in two-position scheme and brings forward the method of position transformation error measurement and compensation.
