With the development of all-round socio-economic, more spatial information is needed. As one of the most effective means, the technology of ground 3D laser radar had been applied to many different areas.This paper focused on the key technology research of applications of ground 3D laser radar, which applied to urban components mapping, atmospheric particles detection, and coal bulk volume measurement. Moreover, this paper pointed out that the different processes of ground 3D laser radar in different applications, and designed a large-scale laser radar data storage strategy. All of research work had great theoretical and practical significance; its main work is as follows:(1) To address the massive ground 3D laser points cloud data, it mentioned that the depth images were divided based on the quadtree arithmetic, and researched the storage management strategy in Oracle Object-Relational database.(2) This paper provided that the engineering method of the urban components measurement, which is finished by the ground 3D laser radar. Based on the study of key technologies of ground 3D laser radar for urban CAD modeling and common software, it gave that the work processes of several common software engineering problems to solve practical operational procedures.(3) Based on the ground 3D laser radar, it researched an approach of detecting air suspended particles. This paper also pointed out the differences, which are between traditional methods and this method. The proposed method offered a formula, which is used for the quantities of particles per m~3. In the end of this part, there is a statistics table of Beijing's air particles quantity in different ground types.(4) Based on the coal pile of the Huanghua Port, this dissertation also discussed that the survey approach of the ground 3D laser radar in the coal stock. It proved that the ground 3D laser radar technology had some investigation advantages in the coal stock.In short, this dissertation pointed out some new approaches, which could be applied to urban components measurements, atmospheric particles detection and coalbulk volume survey based on ground 3D Laser Scanner. All of these would lay establish the groundwork for the in-depth research in future.
