Microseismic monitoring is a new geophysical technique. It ascertains microseismic events position, intensity and time when it happened by monitoring seismic waves which is caused by microseism. The researches in this technique started early abroad, and the technique is ripe comparatively. It was often been used to monitor the mine safety, oilfield developing, volcanic activity and nature earthquake. But the limits of detection precision calculating ability of computer blocked the developing of this technique. Recently, microseismic monitoring technique makes rapid progress with the developing of computer techniques. It can not only ascertain microseismic position but also describe detailed fracture qualities by researching for focus mechanism, and it now can do three and four dimensional monitoring from earlier one dimension and two dimensions monitoring, and its precision has been raised by big percentages. In our country, microseismic technique is more and more been looked upon by absorbing the foreign successful experiences and drawing the lessons from mine disasters, but generally technique is in starting stage. This paper based on microseismic monitoring project at JinPing one-level hydropower station left shore, studies microseismic monitoring theories in a deepgoing way, improves algorithm of monitoring according to the real problems, builds feasible model, designs the more efficient shortest path ray tracing method and location method, elaborates the monitoring effection from the theory and real application aspects and it is used to microseismic monitoring project at JinPing one-level hydroelectric station left shore at last. It's the first time to use three dimensional microseismic monitoring in large hydropower project in china. The paper resolves some difficult points in three dimensional microseismic monitoring. First, it's about building model. Generally, people use uniform model or layer-like model in research, which is uniform velocity or uniform velocity in the same layer model. But it's no real sense to complex tectonic zone. Second, it's about algorithm's efficiency. The quantity of three dimensional microseismic monitoring data increase by series with geologic object increasing. We should designed more efficient algorithms to resolve the problem of traditional inefficient algorithms. The problems been resolved are related to the reality and feasibility of three dimensional microseismic monitoring at JinPing one-level hydropower station.
