GPS is the satellite navigation system which can provides many serves including navigation, fixing position, issuing the official calendar and so on. With the development of GPS technology, GPS application expands unceasingly from military affairs preliminary to civil life. The frequency source based on GPS which using the GPS second-pulse signal to lock the local frequency signal is one of the important applications. There is huge development of the frequency source based on GPS because the GPS system has high stability and precision atom standard and its signal can wholly cover the earth at any time and at any weather.It is adopted in this thesis to design and make a GPS receiver which provides the adjustable pulse singal for the PLL frequency source using the GPS module.This thesis has analysed the GPS system, give a brief introduction to the GPS receiver and the application of it. It analyses the characteristics of GPS receiver and the features of the modules. The design procedures of GPS receiving equipment have been introduced. The GPS receiver based on u-blox LEA-4H module has designed. I have studied the impedance-matching of RF transmission line between the antenna and the GPS module.For the convenience of the using the receiver and integrating with the frequency synthesizer, I use the MCU to achieve the initialization, and give some of the codes. The PCB circuit of the GPS receiver has been made and tested. The joint test with the frequency synthesizer has done. The result proved the pulse signal from the GPS receiver has a long time frequency stability.
