Based on 1,8-naphthalimide, sensor Zl with two acceptors for copper and zinc and other three strcture analogues Z2,Z3,Z4 were designed and synthesized. In neutral buffer environ-ment, Zl's fluorescence intensity increased with the zinc and decreased with the copper. It had response to Cd2+,Hg2+ and Co2+, but it has the selectivity to some degree. And the other three Z2,Z3,Z4 had good response to zinc and the selectivity to some degree. We have also studied the effects of charged surfactant SDS on the photophysical proper-ties of the above sensors Zl,Z2 and a reported sensor WZS. All these three compounds had good sensitivity, its detection limit was changed from 10-6 to 10-7.Z1 can also be used as a molecular logic gate, INHIBIT logic function of two-input systems can be achieved.
