In this research gangue slurry of Luquan ilmenite was studied in Yunnan province, and the analysis suggest that the reason why it is difficult to separate solid from liquid for this slurry is that the granules with the size of below 15μm account for 80 percent in the gangue. Whereas this kind of slurry can be regarded as colloid dispersoid. When free sedimentation happens, there is only obscure boundary between water and condensation. In order to solve the sedimentation problem for this kind of gangue slurry, experiments were carried out to analyze the effects of several flocculating agents on the relationship of the velocity of sedimentation and concentration of the condensation layer. Before adding flocculating agent, to gain an ideal collaborative promotion effect, the electricity characteristics of kaolinite and quartzite surfaces that are major constitutes of silicate were analyzed according to mineral technique. It is indicated that the granules surfaces are electronegative, so flocculant adopts positive ions. However, the experiments used vitriol and aluminium saline as the positive ion flocculant indicated a different result that sulfuric acid is the prepreerence coagulation chemical compared with aluminium cation. Then, different kinds of flocculating agents were studied to acquire the best coagulate conditions. The experiments showed that mechanisms of anion 926 PAM and kation 3# PAM are different, with various slurry concentration, this electrophoresis will be obvious. Due to 926 PAM with carboxylic molecule and 3# PAM with amidocyanogen,3# PAM can integrate grains more easily than 926 PAM. But with great polymer of 926 PAM, the consumption of 926 PAM can be less than 3# PAM under the optimal coagulate condition, so the cost can be decreased. At last, it is suggested that the optimal way of flocculating agents addition is as follows. First, vitriol as flocculant reduces the zate potentency of gangue slurry granules. Second,926 PAM together with duodenary amine insulate water further to accelerate sedimentation. The whole procedure with mild mix can separate solid from liquid quickly. When the concentration is 20 percent in the extraction machine, the velocity can reach 1.92m/h, which needs less sedimentation area.We always hope floc which is made up of grain and flocculant to resist against shearing strength from liquid,so we need a method to analyze whether the floc's structure can resist against sheating strength or not. For a long time, scientist were inclined to predigest complex thread class to Euclid traditional geometry when they evaluate floc effect that has complex and random configuration considering it to linearity problem. that is,floc's tructure is recognised a chain because of floculant's tructure,when analyze it,we used to think the floc's demention number is l,but this Inconsistent with the true But a great deal of experimentation indicate that not inosculate data will bring errors if apply to practical problems. In the latest years, the fractal theory that based on non-linearity and no predigest calculate errors is widely used in many fields because of its superiority which is fundamentally different from methods that use linear process. The fractal dimension number can describe quantificationally problems that is hard to predigest like flocs, that is, if the fractal dimension number is greater, the much better the coagulate effect. This theory has gain rapid development in water processing field. Sutherland developed the Ballistic Aggregation based on Vold's model which descend from classical Smoluchowski model, and his theory precisely defined the floc non-linear one which gain tremendous conviction in this domain. The configuration Sutherland developed was a bit ideal with the fractal dimension number 1.95, that is,if the dimension number is close to this value, the floc is more stable and not easy to fall to pieces, and the granules are compact. When the floc's fractal dimension number is converged with the model, we can conclude that the floc's grow process is assemble or not, which can reflect good or bad effect of flocculants. Although some scholars investigated the fractal dimension which based on flocculational mechanism in low concentration wastewater, the dimension which has high concentration in mining process engineering has not been reported, and this research will study this aspect. Because so many mines are abundant with kaolinite and quartzite, ilmenite is often be used to epurate Fe and Ti. To explore this kind of fractal dimension number has profound significance to scientific research.So, here will import Mandelbort fractal theory, by virtue of SEM and LM, combined with PC pre-processing, two flocculates, inorganic and organic, were tested to calculate their dimension numbers. Experiments denoted that when the gangue mixed with PFSS, the dimension number is 1.29, when added 926 PAM together with vitriol and duodenary amine, the dimension number is 1.90, which is well converged with the model Sutherland developed with dimension number 1.95. So it can be concluded that the designed flocculation method is the prime state. Hence, a quantified estimation can be used in others gangue's flocculation researches.
