This paper adopted the artificial accelerated aging test, discussed the performance changes of MDF used to panel furniture which were caused by environmental temperature and humidity changes in long-term use. The test adopted the artificial accelerated aging way, that is BS 5669 (V313), it took the test to MDF plate-board and MDF which were treated differently on face. The results of test found that:One, after the accelerated aging, the sizes of MDF plate-board and MDF which were treated differently on face also changed. The thickness of the specimen in a larger change in the length and width of small changes in size, but found that the rate of change of the two were different, the changes in the width direction higher than the rate of change of the direction of the length. The test found that different thickness of specimen had different change rate, and the size change rates order of MDF plate-board in the thickness direction were that 18 mm less than 15mm less than 12mm less than 6 mm; The MDF that were treated differently on face had the same change law. Two, various surface treatments (melamine plate veneer exceptions) could inhibit the change rate of thickness under the conditions of the aging changes, the size change rates order of MDF plate-board and specimen which were treated differently on face in the thickness direction were that painted plate less than veneered plate with paper less than veneered plate with wood veneer less than MDF plate-board, and the thickness change rate of painted specimen was least.Three, the specimen density had changed after artificial aging, and the change rates had the same change law to change rate of size.Four, in different artificially accelerated aging cycles, the physical and mechanical properties of four different thickness of the plates also had different the lower level. Before and after three aging cycles, the mechanical properties decreased rates order were that 18 mm less than 15mm less than 12mm less than 6mm; The TS rised rates order were thatl8 mm less than 15mm less than 12mm less than 6mm. The mechanical properties of decorative plates with different surface also had decreased, and the decline rates order were that painted board less than veneered plate with wood paper up to veneered plate with wood veneer less than plate-board less than plate faced with melamine. These results showed that the more thick sheet, the better aging, the paint finishes was good to the MDF aging, and that had the best paint effect.Five, the appearance and structural changes of artificial accelerated aging test under the conditionsThe surface structures of different thickness of plate specimens after aging were from the surface into rugged smooth, and some specimens had been around the end layered surface partial local fiber loss. The changes in the structure of four different pieces of ornaments interviews before and after aging were small, the color of paint board changed from blue into light green, the colors of wood veneered and paper veneered were also lighter.Six, although this test used more moderate three aging cycle way(that is BS 5669 (V313)), it was still too harsh from the results of performance, and it will need to develop new accelerated aging test method to determine indoor furniture substrate durability.
