Spiral bevel gear is the key part in the area of automobile, engineering machinery, aeronautics and astronautics. Its spatial shape is very complex. With the rapid development and universal application of NC technology, NC grinding has provided a way for the precision and automatic processing of spiral bevel gear. But it has been difficult to resolve the NC grinding quality of spiral bevel gear. Now its key technologies have been monopolized by several companies in overseas, and are still at the primary stage in domestic. So the paper carries out research on digital modeling and analysis of thermo-mechanical coupling on NC grinding interface of spiral bevel gear. The main research contents are as follows.Study on the NC grinding principle and the parameter mathematical models of grinding interface of spiral bevel gear. Based on the six axis five linkage NC grinding principle and the Gleason contact principle of spiral bevel gears, the mathematical models of basic grinding parameters were established; the physical meaning formula of grinding forces was obtained. The heat distribution ratio was gotten by applying the thermal model of a single grinding grit,and the heat flux was computed by using a rectangle distributing heat source.Digital modeling of grinding interface of spiral bevel gear. The solid model of spiral bevel gear was established by pro/E and was imported to ANSYS software, and the basic equation of grinding temperature field was obtained by applying heat conduction theory. According to the finite element representation, the finite element 3D model of single tooth of spiral bevel gear was built by using mesh of the Solid95 element with hexahedron of 20-nodes.Based on the Von Mises yield criterion, the Mises flow rule and the MISO model, the material relationship model of gear was built, and the constructive relationships of stress and deformation fields on grinding interface was set up by applying thermo-elastic-plastic theory and Prandtl-Reuss method.Experimental and finite element simulation analysis of thermo-mechanical coupling of grinding of spiral bevel gear. The grinding temperature field was simulated by applying finite element analysis method and its key technology. The grinding stress and deformation fields of spiral bevel gear was analyzed by using the method of thermo-mechanical coupling on grinding interface, and the force and temperature of grinding interface were experimentally analyzed. These provided a basic for grinding quality control of digital manufacturing of spiral bevel gear.
