Yunnan An Open Pit Mine Granular Material Mechanical Properties And Engineering Applications

Granular material is composed of each interrelated soild particles. Its main feature is dispersibility,complexity and variability, and it is different from the rocks and soil. Its properties are related to particle's size,shape and distributing character. These particle's parameters will change when force is put on, and the characteristics of granular materials too. An open-pit mine is engineering background for this paper, in view of the wasted loose rocks and soil from stope, a large number of pilot studies carried out and analyse their strength and deformation mechanism.A more integrated fundamental theory system for granular materials is built up upon synthetically compare,analysis,study and summarization of the research achievements about physical and mechanical characteristics of granular materials through introducing related theories of granular material mechanics and loose mechanics.Through on-sit test methods, determined natural moisture content and particle size distribution of granular material, and used Fractal Geometry Theory to analyze their size distribution. Carried out field direct shear test to loose rock and soil in the dumping, determined their strength and analyzed demormation.In view of the fact that lab triaxial test, we adopt lab medium shear test to research the mechanics character of different particle size distribution. Established relationship of c,φand Fractional Dimension with change of coarse particle content. At the same time, using a simple disintegration test to study the phenomenon of granular material disintegration in contact with water and features of changes in particle size distribution.With a specific project, analyzing the stability of the slope that it is formed by the granular material stockpiling by FLAC numerical simulation for it's application to provide strong guidance.
