The lightweight of automobile is the new development trend in auto industry in all the world.The lightweight technology includes the using of lightweight material,rational structure and manufacture method of lightweight.Many car units can be made by using of manufacture method of lightweight when the intensity is not be reduced.Rollforming is one of the methods.Most metal can be processed by rollforming,the cost can be reduced remarkablely when the quality is guaranted,Rollforming is using extensively in automobile industry.The study is a part of car unites manufacture by rollforming item.The study has probed into the craft about B-pillar by FEA,including mainly the velocity matching about strip and roller,strip deformation condition,stress condition and strain condition.The finite element model construction method on the automobile B-pillar flexible rollforming simulation was studied via the large non-linear Marc software,including mainly strip model,roller model,element choosing, boundary building, the setting of model parameters, the velocity loading of rollers and so on,then simulate the strip rollforming process by the rigid rollers moving along the strip,and the time step adaptive in loading control,then the finite element model has been constructed.Based on the static implicit algorithm,the finite element simulation about B-pillar flexible rollforming has been conducted,got the strip Z displacement,stress and strain conditions in each sequence.The deformation,stresses and strains in the primary,middle,flexible forming process was analyzed.The simulation results of B-pillar coincides the regular pattern,then shows that the model is suitable for the whole process simulation of roll forming and can provide a technology supply for rollforming FEA research.
