Organotin compounds are widely used as catalyst, PVC stabilzer, insecticide, anti-fouling paint, wood preservative and anticancer drugs. The structures and biological activity especially anti-cancer activity have become one of the hot researches. In this paper,39 new organotin compounds are synthesized by the reactions of salicylaldehyde-α-amino acid Schiff base and its reduced product, dithiocarbamic ligands with organic tin oxide or chloride, respectively. Their structures have been characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR,1H NMR, X ray crystal diffraction techniques. The crystal structures of 11 compounds are analysed. The antibacterial activity and the electrochemical properties of some compounds.also have been determined1) 4 organotin compounds are synthesized by the reactions of salicylaldehyde-α-amino acid Schiff base, derived fromα-amino acids and substituted salicylaldehyde, with dialkyltin dichloride and characterized. The crystal structures of 3 compounds are determined. The results show that the substituted salicylaldehyde-α-amino acids as tridentate ONO chelating ligand coordinate to Sn atom. The Sn atom is five-coordinated and posseses the distorted trigonal bipyramid in which the C atoms of two alkyl groups and N atom of imino group lie in equator plane and the phenolic O atom and carboxylic O atom take up the axis position, and form a five-membered ring and a six-membered ring.2) 12 N-2-hydroxybenzyl-α-amino acid ligands, derived from salicylaldehyde-α-amino acid and NaBH4, and 23 corresponding organotin derivatives are synthesized and. characterized. The crystal structures of 2 compounds are messured. The results show that the ligand coordinate to Sn atom though 2 ways, as ONO tridentate chelating ligand to form five-coordinated monomer structure with a trigonal bipyramidal configuration or as tetradentate NO3 ligand by the carbonyl O atom of carboxylate bridging coordination to the tin atom of adjacent molecule to form octahedronal structure.3) The Schiff bases are synthesized by the reaction of benzylamine or ethanediamine with ferrocene formaldehyde and reduced to corresponding secondary amines by NaBH4 in the methanolic solution.12 organotin dithiocarbamates are synthesized by the reaction of the organotin chlorides with the dithiocarbamic ligands, prepared by the reaction of the secondary amines with carbon bisulfide. The crystal structures of 4 organotin dithiocarbamate compounds are analysed. The results showed that the ligand is monodentated and tin atom is tetra-coordinated and posseses a tetrahedronal configuration.4) The antibacterial activity of 12 compounds have been determined using microcalorimetry method. The preliminary structure-activity relationship has been studied. The results display that the compounds have antibacterial activity and some of them is much better than the clinical anti-bacterial drugs. The order of the antibacterial activity of alkylsin is butyltin>cyclohexyltin>methyltin.5) The electrochemical properties of 3 compounds containing ferrocene have been determined using cyclic voltammetry. The results show that they have a single oxidation peak and the substituent on organotin can affect the oxidation potential of ferrocene. The order of oxidation potential from low to high is dibutyltin
