Due to its excellent mechanical and thermal properties,CNTs is widely used in modification of polymer materials. CNTs can enhance and toughenthe polymer, but the poor dispersion and incompatible of the polymer matrix limit its application. Therefore, the function of carbon nanotubes have been widespread concerned. Firstly,high grafting ratio functionalized CNTs were prepared through plasma and microwave collaborative treatment.The correlation of O's M-CNTs content with vacuum, plasma treatment time, power, pressure and the Oxygen flow time are investigated. The influence of the microwave irratiation of reaction temperature,power, time and on M-CNTs'grafting yield are studied. And the microwave radiation and heat induced surface grafting of CNTs PMA extent are compared.The morphology and structure of CNTs were characterized through SEM, FT-IR and Raman.The PMA grafting yield on the surface of CNTs are tested by XPS and TGA.The results showed that plasma, microwave radiation collaboration fuctionalization obtained higher ratio of grafted CNTs;the structure of CNTs was not destroyed; either microwave or thermal induced graft reaction, grafting ratio is increased with the reaction time increased, but to varying degrees;Under the same reaction temperature, microwave induced grafting reaction cost only tens of minutes to achieve a more satisfactory grafting effect,but thermal induced grafting reaction, often take hours or even a dozen hours to make a successful reaction;generally,microwave induced grafting reaction proceeds better than heat induced grafting.Then, triethylenetetramine was react with maleic anhydride on the surface modification of carbon nanotubes.At last,the multi-functionalized CNTs were mixed with the epoxy resin and then cured.CNTs/epoxy nano-composites were prepared. CNTs/EP nanocomposites were tested for tensile properties, impact and thermal performance.The results show that the plasma and the microwave collaborative functionalized CNTs can significantly increase the EPs tensile strength, strain rate, impact strength. A-PMA-CNTs not only enhance the EP,but also toughen the EP. Furthermore, A-PMA-CNTs significantly improved the heat resistance of epoxy. With small amount of unmodified CNTs, the Tg, mechanical strength, toughness of epoxy resin can be improved to some extent, but the effect is worse than A-PMA-CNTs.The plasma and microwave collaborative functionalized A-PMA-CNTs improved the compatibility with the EP.Moreover,it reacted with EP in the process of curing reaction.Due to the chemical bond,the interface adhesion of CNTs and EP were inproved.
