As carbon structural steel,the angle has been widely used in engineering structures and architectural structures,such as the transmission towers,houses,bridges and ships.With the rapid development of state grid and the construction of super levels power transmission network,the contradiction between demand and supply of high quality angle steel is continuously growing. Therefore,the study of high quality angle steel not only has important application value also of great economic value.This paper based on the National Key Technology R&D Program.The purpose of this program is to produce high quality equal Angle steel for transmission tower under current production technology with the assistance of the finite element software,and to study the rule of spreading in bufferfly pass for the Angle pass system design.This paper has established a complete set of numerical simulation model under the current production process by using a three-dimensional graphics software and the finite element numerical simulation software.In the case of long leg,the extention situation,average rolling force, groove fill and metal-flow situation of each pass were analyzed in this model.And then the pass system optimization scheme was put forward.In order to further study the rule of spreading changes,this paper discuss the factors which contribute to the spreading changes.For example,the dimension parameters of butterfly pass. The main conclusions as follows were reached:(1)According to the simulation analysis of the whole No.14 equal angle rolling process,the main reasons of leggy problem are the length of horizontal section and too long leg center-line. the groove optimization scheme propose that shortened the groove height of the first and second passes,and narrowed the width of subsequent passes.(2)According to the simulation analysis of each pass metal-flow situation,the paper conclude that the horizontal part,the arc part,the straight line part and the cross-arc are contributed to the metal flowing.Appropriate product design is the guarantee of the product quality and dimension.(3)In the butterfly pass system design process,Appropriate center line design is one of the key factors to guarantee product quality.The results indicate that the increase of spreading linearly depends on the horizontal part,but nonlinearly on the straight line part and inverse on the arc part.The increase of spreading nonlinearly depends on the cross-arc part.(4)The results shows that it is failing to adjusting the gap of the mill to settle the leggy problem effectively in the butterfly pass system.Neither increasing nor decreasing the gap could shorten the length of the angle leg.
