WEDM obtains a rapid development after it's born. At the same time as the market demand of the micro-WEDM increases rapidly as the increase of the high precise product in the Die & Mould industry and manufacturing of aviation & astronavigation. The dissertation focuses on the research and design of a CNC system of micro-WEDM based on the most commonly used motion control technology—motion control card. In this dissertation, the main works have been done as follows:1 According to the function and performance requirements of the micro- WEDM, a CNC system's hardware structure is established by PC and motion control card, and then the GTS400 control card of GOOGOL TECH is chosen to complete the connection and debugging.2 The CNC system is divided into six modules based on the Modularization, NC system's function, relocation and complexity. Then use DLL technology to program and debug each module which is different from that had been used past.3 To achieve the integration of other popular mechanical CAD drawing software, we not only compile the normal NC code but also the DXF file. The processing data is analyzed and extracted from the DXF file which based on the WEDM requirement.4 Using the windows operating system to achieve the multi-task parallel processing for the multi-tasking features of the micro-WEDM wire cutting system. The system uses global variables and custom message to complete the threads'communication and the coordinating of threads in order to achieve the motion control of the CNC system. The user interface is developed by VC6.0 and MFC.5 According to the characteristics of motion control card and the need of micro WEDM, the system chooses MAX-MIN-gravity method—a fuzzy algorithm to complete the servo control to improve the machining accuracy and efficiency.In addition to the above description this dissertation also did some research on the basic function of CNC system such as interpolation and cutter compensation.
