The grinding process is the key link in the whole production process of ore dressing plant. Itplays an essential role, directly affect the production capacity and quality of grinding, and even thewhole economic and technical indicators of concentrator. But grinding process is a control system,complex mechanism, influence factors, and is also a process of multivariable input and output. It hasthe characteristics of nonlinear, time-varying and large delay, bring to some difficulties to productionoperation. Among them, mill load is an important parameter in the grinding process, to maintain themill in the best running state stability that is the best mill load, the product quality indicators meettechnological requirement and the mill processing capacity achieve the best value, ensure safe andefficient operation of the mill. It has great significance for improving the economic and energyconsumption of grinding operation. In actual production, due to the change of ore properties, operatingfactors and grinding concentration, can cause mill load optimal operating point drift, and can not givefull play to the efficiency of mill. Therefore, In the best load running of mill is an important part ofautomatic control of grinding process. In order to realize the optimal control of grinding process, canguarantee mill load is in the best condition is the key to the whole control.This paper carried out a detailed overview of the domestic and international grindingclassification process automation technology on research level and development; Then analyzes theoperating characteristics of mill load and clear the control content and control requirement, which areoptimized for mill load is calculated, by calculation the relationship between mill load and differentconcentration and optimal load value. According to the general demand of expert control, using VisualBasic language as mill expert control system development tools and design interface appearance ofexpert mill load control system, and build content framework of expert control. Finally, using theVisual Basic develop OPC client, through OPC technology realizes data exchange between WINCCand VB, to achieve a closed-loop control of mill load.The purpose of this paper is to study the mill load, the using expert control is proposed to achieveautomatic control of mill load, under the premise of ensuring product quality, as much as possible toimprove mill processing capacity and production efficiency of grinding process.
