Five-axis CNC machine is a high-tech, high precision machine tools for machining complexsurface, this machine has a decisive influence on national aviation, aerospace, military, scientificresearch, precision instruments, medical equipment and other high-precision industries. The topicof this paper is “design and simulation for academic prototype five–axis CNC milling machine”.First, this paper describes the development history of five-axis CNC machine tools, analyzes theadvantages and disadvantages of different five-axis milling tool’s layout, introduces CNC millingmachine prototype structure and gives the layout plan. Layout solutions include equipment designand layout, working space of dual turntable, the origin point of the coordinate axes, cutting forceand welding characteristics.Secondly, the teaching axis CNC milling machine prototype layouts are studied, specificallyincluding five-axis feed mechanism, spindle mechanism. Calculate the parameters of the actuatorand select the equipment. Five-axis CNC milling machine is built by Creo software. From theperspective of reliability checks Five-axis prototype CNC milling machine’s parameters. Then, thethree dimensional model of prototype five-axis CNC milling machine is conducted a study of thedesign and assembly process, including dual-feed system turntable motor, coupling, encoder,bearings, lubrication, sealing equipment, etc. Simulate the actual assembly process problems andfind the solutions.Finally, use Creo simulation module for prototype Five-axis CNC milling machine to thekinematics simulation. The performance in static and dynamic properties of the prototypeFive-axis CNC milling machine during the working process is studied to verify whether therequires of the precision are completely fulfilled.
