Five-axis Open CNC system has become a hot research spot.This paper studies the Five-axis open CNC with Dual-axis Rotary Table which is based on PC with multi-axis motion controller with plug-in PLC:Firstly,develop motion controller with multi-axis interpolation function and build CNC system hardware platform with the controller treated as the core;secondly,develop CNC system control software to respond to the user messages and deal with non-real-time tasks;finally,the five-axis NC programming,sample simulation and verification,sample processing and so on was presented.The main works include four aspects as follows:(1)By the research on Open CNC system hardware design,the open CNC system hardware platform based on the host computer-Industrial PC with lower machine-Independent float DSP digital motion controller based on high speed Ethernet with independence PLC is constructed.Compared to the traditional CNC system,the developed system has better performance in openness and scalability.(2)The overall Five-axis open CNC System Software functional requirements has been studied and a modular approach has been adopted for the functional planning.The five-axis format G-code compiler with high versatility has been designed.The timing read manner was used for real-time monitoring of each hardware module status during the operation of CNC system to ensure the normal and reliable operation of the system.DLL interface variables and functions based on COM components were designed to make the development of the host computer program convenient for the users.(3)Independence PLC realizing the auxiliary functions and Automatic Tool Change(ATC)function has been was studied.Aiming at Five-axis Open CNC system with Dual-axis Rotary Table,a free port communication mode was proposed to implement communication and control between the multi-axis motion controller and the independence PLC to realize the auxiliary functions control and automatic tool change(ATC)function.Experimental results showed that the tool change time was reduced and the processing efficiency was improved through the optimal path tool selection method under the free port communication mode based on the independent PLC.(4)CAD/CAM machining capabilities of UG NX 8.5 Software combining virtual simulation system of VERICUT 7.0 software were used for impeller processing programming and simulation.The sample was processed in the self-transformated Five-axis Open CNC Machine with Dual-axis Rotary Table.The correctness of the NC program and the processor was verified,as well as the actual processing capacity of the Five-axis Open CNC system.
