In resent years, many fields such as aviation, aerospace, automation and energydevelop rapidly. The material performance requirements are also improved in these fields.In order to promote the development of modern industry, many kinds of new materialsspring up, such as stainless steel, high strength and ultra-high strength steel, etc. All thesematerials have high hardness and strength, the micro hard spots and active. These featuresare better than before, but at the same time they cause difficultly to machining. Because theproduction of material has increased year by year, the processes such as cutting stock andequal length cutting put forward higher requirements on the performance of sawing tooland machinery. Therefore, researching new saw is imperative.This study is finished base on materials science, tribology, mechanics of materialsand engineering, and theory of metal cutting etc. Use Pro/E and Deform software andindustrial equipments. Study the cutting performance of new blade through the selectionof new blade materials, the optimization of geometry parameters of knife block, coatingperformance testing and some index such as cutting temperature and knife block wearmass loss.The study result shows that the work efficiency of about mechanically-clamped sawis higher than welded saw. The chip curling and breaking of new saw becomes well afteroptimizing the parameters of structure. We know that AlCrN is better than TiAlN whencutting the stainless steel. The conclusion is that the best choice of rake angle is6°~8°by FEA. This FEA will lay the foundation for another parameter optimization.Comparing with the traditional one, the new saw has lower wear, temperature and cuttingforce. There is little built-up edge or the phenomenon of turned.In conclusion, the new saw with improved technical has high work efficiency andlong working life. In consequence, the new saw not only meet cutting requirements butalso reduce production cost.Figure42; Table7; Reference60...
