Institution which makes steel ingot flip is important equipment in the steel mill.Because the steel has a high temperature, so the turnover mechanism of traditional willset up cold water device. The cold water installations are used to protect equipment. Butit will make the equipment large, complex and high manufacturing cost. In order to solvethis problem, the support system must have the characteristics of high temperatureresistance and high toughness.Aluminum oxide, SiC, yttrium oxide and tungsten are sintered material. We use thepreparation of silicon carbide composites by spark plasma sintering technology. It notonly has a high density, also has high temperature stability and toughness. So it is a goodmaterial for making the support block.The sintered material is analysed by using X-Ray Diffractomer. In the hightemperature, high pressure conditions, the spark plasma sintering equipment is appliedfor preparing samples. It is observed by scanning electron microscopy analysis of surfacemorphology and microstructure of the samples. Electronic universal testing machine isused to test the mechanical properties of the specimen. And dynamic mechanicalproperties of specimens of the Split Hopkinson pressure bar experiment is tested. Thesamples were simulated using ANSYS.At last, experimental data and analytical data are compared and we also needdetermine the performance of the supporting block and silicon carbide compositematerial.
