| In the Weihe River Basin, because of the complex natural geographical condition, limited water resource and different social development level, the aquatic ecosystems varies widely. Some parts of the aquatic ecosystems in this region have been seriously damaged, and the ecological problem is increasingly serious, these have been important factors to restrict economic and social development. According to the current aquatic ecosystem situation of the Weihe River Basin, evaluating and distinguishing the differences of regional ecosystems could provide the basis for ecological civilization construction of the Weihe River Basin, and help regional aquatic ecosystem protection and restoration, which could also serve for sustainable utilization of regional water resources. This paper focuses on aquatic functional ecoregions of the Weihe River Basin, with GIS and RS technologies and based on comprehensive analysis of ecological functions, develops aquatic ecological evaluation and regionalization work. The main results are as follows:(1) Based on the research of aquatic ecological regionalization approaches, fundamental principles, nomenclature and coding rules, according to the features of the Weihe River Basin’s land and main stream, the three stage ecoregions are set up from aquatic ecological functions, and the four stage ecoregions are founded based on the comprehensive evaluation results of aquatic functional ecoregions.(2) On the basis of the features of ecological environment in the Weihe River Basin, and based on the rainfall, soil, climate, topography, vegetation, species data, etc., by ecological principal, the corresponding national ecological function regionalization results are applied to the Weihe River basin, and classified as one and two stage land ecoregions. And then explore three and four stage aquatic ecoregions of the Weihe River Basin. According to the aquatic ecological service functions, the Weihe River Basin is divided into 7 three stage aquatic functional ecoregions. The next, with GIS and RS technologies to hierarchically evaluate each functional ecoregion, according to the results, the Weihe River Basin is divided into 22 four stage ecoregions, and at last study on how to determine their names and codes.(3) Regarding the main stream of the Weihe River as the research region, under fully comprehending biological and environmental status of the main stream, the corresponding national fish regionalization methods are applied to the Weihe River basin, classified as one and two stage ecoregions. And combined with the rules of aquatic function regionalization and the results of land regionalization, the main stream is divided into 7 three stage ecoregions. At last, according to the regionalization methods of the aquatic function regionalization technology specifications, the main stream is further divided into 15 four stage ecoregions.(4) Combined with the evaluation results and regionalization results of each aquatic ecoregion, according to the aquatic ecological features of the Weihe River Basin, the main problems of aquatic ecological environment are distinguished and the corresponding methods of aquatic ecological restoration and protection are put forward. |
