It is inevitable that metal constructions will produce a variety of micro-cracks in the manufacturing and working process, with the increase of working time, micro-cracks continues to expand, resulting in failure of mechanical parts, and even lead to sudden catastrophic failure. In this paper, an experimental device to repair surface micro-crack of metal constructions is designed, in order to solve the current problem of the surface micro-cracks repaired of metal constructions.Firstly, design and analysis the laser crack arrest experimental device in general. According to the characteristics of laser, the defocus amount and the temperature of center point heating are seen as the measurement and control parameters of the system. Meanwhile, according to the other features of the experimental device, determine the specific components of the device.Secondly, determine the single plano-convex lens for focusing the laser. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of coaxial optical path and lateral optical path, and choose the coaxial optical system to avoid the visual difference. Then the coaxial optical test platform is been built according to the experimental requirements. Analysis the structures of powder feeder commonly used in China. Then the weight type of powder feeder structures is determined in this experiment. Calculate the pneumatic conveying conditions of powder delivery to select the appropriate flow controllers. And the structure diagram of powder feeding system is finally determined.Then, select the required hardware according to the specific components of laser crack arrest experimental device, including laser and its control board, camera, lens, light source, infrared sensors, ultrasonic distance sensor and data acquisition card.Finally, design the control system of laser crack arrest device in the host computer software. After a brief introduction of LabVIEW, it provides an overview of the design patterns of the system software. Draw the program flowchart according to the workflow of experimental device, and write the main control system. At the same time, visual acquisition subroutine, data collection routines, data storage and reporting routines and the front panel of procedures are discussed in detail respectively. The main program has been tested verify the validity of the system.In summary, through the system debugging, the laser crack arrest experimental device can acquire the image data, complete the detection of microscopic cracks, collect distance, temperature and flow data effectively, complete the automatic repair process of the micro-cracks of CT sample, generate the Excel reports related to the measurement data automatically.
