As engineering machinery, high speed and heavy load gear is the core parts of the compressor and other products. If the carburizing and quenching process of the gears is not appropriate, the carbide network will be too large and the strength curve will be too deep and the tissue inhomogeneity will increase, these will lead to the service life of the gears decline sharply, even the gear scrap directly due to the deformation and cracking at the end of the heat treatment. So the requirements of the preparation are very high, the whole heat treatment process must be scientific and reasonable. In this paper, the existing heat treatment process of the gear is analyzed through numerical simulation and the experiment. First, the solid phase of the gears are simulated by finite element simulation software, including the influence of carburization temperature on the process and the effect of quenching temperature on cooling process. It is found that the carburizing at TC4℃, organization and performance is relatively good, the carburized layer and the carbon concentration carburizing layer thickness also meet the requirements of process; when air quenching at TA4℃, better surface microstructure and hardness of heart tissue and uniform distribution are obtained. When oil quenching at TO3℃, there is no obvious difference between the temperature, in order to ensure the gear can complete austenitizing in the actual production, TO3℃ for oil quenching temperature is determined. Finally, all above results provide the technical basis for gear solid-phase transformation process optimization and develop a reasonable heat treatment process. The reasonable process can obtain the carbon concentration carburizing layer thickness, hardness, microstructure of the gear which satisfy the produce requirements. Based on the gear deformation degree at different circumstances, it is found that when the side is fixed the deformation is the most uniform and minimum. The process is preliminarily verificated by the test of the specimen along with the furnace at last.
