In this dissertation, a research has been made on the combustion state of pyrotechnic materials which radiating 3 mm wave based on the flame electric field changing in the combustion process. This paper analyses various pyrotechnic flame current generators and bases on the millimeter wave of radiating first. It uses sodium nitrate and ultrafine red phosphorus as the basic component, then adjusts the formulation and chooses addition agent A, addition agent B and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as additive. And then studies the mechanism of radiating 3 mm wave under the combustion state.First, the basic performances of various oxidants, reducing agents and additives have been discussed, initially identified the range of pyrotechnic material fomulations through theoretical calculation and experimental comparsion. The pyrotechnic films are prepared by the recrystallization and suspended deposition technology. By gradually increasing design formulations, the film with different thickness and different additives are tested for infrared intensity and 3 mm wave emissivity by 3 mm DC radiometer and OPAG 33 FTIR. At the same time, the flame is shot by the high speed camera (HSC) photography, and the temperatures are recorded by IGA-140.The result demonstrates that the P/NaNO3/addition agent A pyrotechnic film can generate 3 millimeter wave (The maximum is about 0.22) in the flame by reasonable formulation designed, and provide a higher emissivity. The tests also showed that the different formulations make the great impact on the mass combustion rate, combustion temperature,3 mm emissivity and transmitting power. With the growth of film thickness, the mass combustion rate did not vary obviously, but the value of the emissivity and transmission power became more. The addition of PVA did not affect the 3 mm emissivity and transmitting power peak, just decreased the mass combustion rate and combustion temperature. However, the emissivity and transmitting power reduced obviously after adding the addition agent B.
