The ocean dumping is the effective method to reduce the pollution degree of land ecological environment by using the self-purification of marine environment to process waste material, but the ocean dumping activity cause the increase of suspended sediment in marine environment at the same time, which effect water optical properties and change the silting in the offshore waters; The rapid economic development in coastal areas and the increase of the wastes dumping to the marine environment has brought enormous burden to the marine environment, so it is beneficial for the supervision and management of ocean dumping activities by monitoring the suspended sediment concentration in dumping area. The traditional monitoring methods are limited by time-consuming and labourious, which couldn’t cover all the waters in good temporal resolution to monitor the suspended sediment concentration change in waters. Remote sensing technology is widely used due to the advantages of large synchronous monitoring, in recent years, the geosynchronous satellites as a new type launch successfully, which its high temporal resolution advantages has made up the defects of polar orbit satellite sensors in long revisit cycle, could monitor traceably the continuous change of suspended sediment concentration in dumping area, analysis the environmental impact caused by dumping activities, and also undertake supervision and management of illegal dumping.In this paper, the ocean dumping zones in Haizhou and its adjacent waters are chosen as the study area, based on the atmospheric correction of FLAASH module to processing GOCI images, according to the relation between measured spectra and GOCI equivalent band remote sensing reflectance the model is built to study the remote sensing inversion of suspended sediment concentration; applying the model to dumping area, making a comprehensive analysis to the continuous change results in short time and longtime sequence of suspended sediment concentration at dumping areas, Results show that the inversion model which was built based on the GOCI fourth and seventh equivalent band reflectance ratio has high precision, RMSE is 12.06 mg/L, the MRE is 25.4%, the thematic map,can better reflect the suspended sediment distribution and change situation of Haizhou Bay, which could analysis the long and short term effects of dumping activities to the sea, the inversion result show that frequent dumping activities of Haizhou Bay waterway engineering cause the increase of suspended sediment concentration in the short term, with the differences to surrounding background, but the dumping zone water recover well with the decrease of the strength of dumping and water dynamic process; there is no serious effects on the ocean environment, which proves further that the advantages with high temporal resolution of GOCI has an important meaning and function on ocean dumping continuity monitoring.
