The safety issue of liquid fuel for vehicle engine is of great significant with the development of science and technology. Based on the basic research of experiments, the variation of the physical properties were studied through the detection method of national standard for petroleum products; A nozzle atomization experimental system was designed based on laser particle size analyzer and particle generating device, the characteristic sizes of atomized fuel drops were measured at different spray pressures; Analyzed the combustion and explosion characteristics of fuel using chemical ignition in 20L explosion sphere vessels and continued burning performance analyzer; Fuel blasting process and dynamics of flame were studied by outfield explosion experiments. Through these basic researches, it can provide a technical basis for fuel security. The following are the major achievements.(1)The viscosity of gasoline is smallest of the oil sample that test in the experiments, gasoline has best atomization performance, and the light component of gasoline was significantly high and it has the highest risk in case of fire.(2) The variation of the atomization characteristics of the fuels are that the big sizes atomized fuel drops are concentrated when the spray pressures are small; With the pressure increased, the average particle size become smaller, the particle size distribution is widened; The greater the spray pressures are, the better the atomization is, under this condition the fuel could burn more adequately.(3) The results show that the atomization process of diesel is divided into three stages, which are formation phase, diffusion phase and stable phase.(4) In 20L spherical explosive device, the appropriate ignition delay time was 300ms, the amount of the ignition agent was 0.48g and the best volume of diesel is 50mL by examining the corresponding parameters of military diesel-35.(5) The maximum explosion pressure have a rising trend with the spray pressures increase. The combustion and explosion performance of oxygenated diesel was the best and it has the longest continued burning time for 330s and highest flame temperature for 4095℃.(6) The consequences of explosion are mainly for the fireball under no constraint, explosion- performance of fuel could be characterized by the parameters of fireball size, fireball surface temperature, high temperature duration, heat flux.
