Graphene is the focus of research in various fields at this stage, which as adsorbent treatment is an important application of graphene. Due to the powerful surface modification, the modified graphene has been extensively studied, in this study; we designed a new type of temperature-sensitive grapheme(TGO), and discussed its related applications. Firstly, PBI-PNIPAM was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide, using bifunctional N,N-bis [6-(2-chloropropionamide) hexyl] perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid bisimide(PBI-Cl) as the initiator. Secondly, we prepared the monolayer graphene oxide according to the Hummers’ method. Finally, temperature-sensitive grapheme was successfully prepared via non-covalent π-π stacking interactions of GO and PBI-PNIPAM. The obtained polymer was then characterized by 1H-NMR and FT-IR, and the surface morphology was observed by a transmission electron microscope(TEM). The molecular weight and molecular weight distribution were determined by gel permeation chromatography(GPC), and the results showed a molecular weight of the predicted value, the molecular weight distribution was narrow. the amount of each element and components of TGO were determined b y X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA). the lower critical solution temperature(LCST) was determined by fluorescence spectroscopy(FL), UV-visible absorption spectroscopy(UV-Vis) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), the results indicated that TGO exhibits reversible temperature sensitive at 35.7 ℃. Finally, we determined the value of TGO for removing methylene blue from water with excellent adsorption capacity of 568 mg/g, high removal efficiency of 99.5%. The experiment proved that TGO as a controlled temperature-sensitive adsorbent has great application value in water treatment.
