Petroleum and petroleum product are used in the production and daily life more and more widely, various depots, gas stations increasing. Oil storage tank is the most common application of the current gas station a conservator way, various internal storage tanks with explosive nature of the oil, can easily lead to a fire explosion. Statistics show that the different types of fires, the most common is the pool of fire, it is also the most serious dangers.Therefore, the safety evaluation is particularly important area on gas station storage tanks. Safety evaluation of the consequences analysis is the most important part of the aim of a quantitative description about the severity of the consequences in the accident, such as calculating the range of accident or injury to personnel and the extent of damage on the body,when the density of certain persons and property density under the circumstances, you can calculate the corresponding number of casualties and property losses.Firstly, using Dow Chemical evaluation method to evaluate the safety of a gasoline station storage tanks, draw their fire and explosion index, risk level, exposing the radius, the exposed area, etc., and to calculate the maximum possible loss of property. However, due to the evaluation method to determine the Dow index and the index value is only set or not relevant, regardless of the state of objective indicators of factors, resulting in the kind of dangerous substances, content, spatial arrangement is similar to, but far away from the actual situation, leading to flexibility and sensitivity of the method is poor.Then using fluid dynamics software FLUENT, with tanks pool fire flame for the study,simulated flame thermal radiation on the surrounding environment, combined with thermal radiation failure criterion to determine the extent of the damage within the scope of the pool of fire. FLUENT software parameter setting more flexible, graphical display capabilities also enable more intuitive specific findings.In summary, the Dow Chemical fire and explosion index evaluation method is easy to learn, but prone to the evaluation results unreasonable phenomenon, FLUENT software simulation numerical simulation method in determining the extent of casualties on the more accurate personnel specifically, therefore, the application of Dow Fire and Explosion Index Method and numerical simulation software FLUENT are two ways to analyze the consequences of the accident have broad application prospects in gasoline station storage tanks.
